Naza Beauty is a protective styling salon that specializes in styling coily, kinky, and afro-textured hair types. From hand-crafted drinks to charger outlets at every chair and a designated space for exploring new products, Naza salon is designed to be a one-of-a-kind beauty experience. A ‘home away from home’ for the Black hair community built by designers, engineers and artists.
Naza Beauty partnered with Carbon Five to create a mobile application focused on elevating and complementing its salon customers’ beauty experience. The team had the unique challenge of translating the sophisticated style of Naza’s brick-and-mortar salon into a sleek, easy-to-navigate, customizable mobile app.
Naza’s founder, Natanya Montgomery, moved into our offices with a Carbon Five team of product, design, and development. Over the course of 10 weeks, we worked on crafting and testing a unique customer-facing booking flow that accurately addressed the complexity of style selection and preferences for women with afro-textured hair.

The intense focus of the team resulted in an impressive collection of valuable mobile app features, including user sign-ups, scheduling, booking, payments, SMS notifications and more. Naza Beauty launched its first boutique in San Francisco, CA with a production ready platform and fully booked schedule. Since launch, Naza has been featured in Elle, Today, Techcrunch, Vogue and much more.
